[an online conversation]

Extremely inside and extremely online, The [204] decided to use the time indoors to explore the intersection of race and space in popular culture in a series of online events. On various digital platforms we explored music videos, fiction, and television.

Bring your wine, buss a whine. We looked at songs and visuals of artists who carve out space for themselves and their communities through music and performance.

We were joined on Zoom by Dr. Hee-Jung Serenity Joo (@garlicqueenie) and discussed the racial dynamics of the American suburbs in the novel 'Little Fires Everywhere' by Celeste Ng (@pronounced_ing)

Dr. Hee-Jung Serenity Joo is an Associate Professor and the Director of the University of Manitoba Institute for the Humanities. Her research and teaching interests include ethnic American literature, speculative fiction, critical race studies, queer studies and globalization. She is also on the board of directors at the Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art.
